Okay so far I’ve tried both, Nvidia 512 with an ACER Core i3 laptop and a 1 GIG ATI in a Sony Vaio Core i5. I play Dragon Age Origins and so far I have had zero problems playing with Nvidia but I don’t know if I should really blame the ATI graphics Card, but the game doesn’t run smoothly there seems to be a load time everytime a character talks or when I try to talk to other characters, It was really really annoying! 
Well I’m off to try ATI in an ACER desktop, I don’t know why but it seems ATI dominates the middle price range pc, they have them locked out both core i series of HP and Acer only have ATI as the graphic cards at the 40-80k desktop price range.
I must say ATI seems to quite crappy.
